Sometimes it happens: you find yourself in a no good reading period and you can't find a good book and you continue to open and read books you don't like or books that aren't bad, but are not a good reading either for sure. I'm sorry if you have read and loved these books, I know that lots of people liked them, but what can I say? I didn't. Dear Life, Alice Munro Usually I like the short stories by Alice Munro, but with this book I didn't feel any connection or even an interest. After reading three or four stories I gave up and closed it. How to Be Both, Ali Smith Another book that many people loved. It's quite a strange book and sometimes I don't feel quite comfortable with this kind of books. Let me explain. When I feel that a book is more an experiment than a story, I don't like it, I don't read books to feel intelligent or smart, I read because I want to know a story, I want to know the characters and if the story isn't the point of the book, well... I don't get it, I'm sorry. This is what this book is about: "How to be both is a novel all about art's versatility. Borrowing from painting's fresco technique to make an original literary double-take, it's a fast-moving genre-bending conversation between forms, times, truths and fictions. There's a renaissance artist of the 1460s. There's the child of a child of the 1960s. Two tales of love and injustice twist into a singular yarn where time gets timeless, structural gets playful, knowing gets mysterious, fictional gets real - and all life's givens get given a second chance". The Goldfinch, Donna Tartt I read this book only because I found it in my hands in audiobook format. I listened to the whole thing and it was great to keep me company while I was working all day, but if I had to read it, it being I don't know how many pages, I think I would have given up after ten pages. Don't get me wrong, I like to read big books and long stories, but this isn't the point. The point is simply that I didn't like this book. Ok, now that I finally put out there my negative thoughts about these books, I can say that I'm finally reading some good books and I can't wait to tell you all about them.
