Some weeks ago I bought a yarn of 100% traditional Romanian wool, Moeke Yarns, and I was thinking what to knit with it. I wanted to do something a little bit different for me, but, at the same time, I wanted something I was sure I would use. Of course I ended up making a beanie, it's something I love to do and I think it's one of my essentials for the winter. This time I wanted a hat with the earflap and I did something strange for me: I looked for a pattern. Usually I come up with patterns myself, but I wanted a little treat for myself. I found this one by Stranded Knitter for the band, I liked that it didn't have the classic earflap. But because I'm not able to make my life easy, I wanted to change something, so I was inspired by the lovely Mandarine's and her Pinecone & Mulberry, to make the different section with two different stitches. I like to call this hat the viking beanie, of course I'm blaming a series I'm watching right now, Vikings. Saturday I went out with my boyfriend in a super cold Milan and it was a lovely day. We went in one of our favourite restaurant, Salsamenteria di Parma, and it was good as always with great cold cuts and wine served in white ceramic bowls and an homemade bitter, nocino. Wow... now I'm hungry and it's 1 p.m. and I have to eat. Then we went to see a movie, Gemma Bovery, perfect for a winter afternoon. The gigantic thing I'm wearing around my neck, it's a wool wrap I found in the fabric shop I went with my friend Mirta, because I'm not friends with sewing machines, she kindly sewed it for me. It's super warm, cozy and I'm using it for everything: scarf, blanket on the sofa, wrap for my morning reading session while I'm trying to wake up.
